A Perfect Sunday
Pretty sure this past Sunday was one of those days that goes into the long term memory file, a perfect day. I was on vacation mode on a quick weekender visiting Dom in San Francisco, the weather was Indian summer warm (actually way too hot for my taste, but looking back now I can hardly remember how grumpy it made me) and there were major plans in the east bay. It all started with the table in this post. It pays to have friends who are on board with project ideas. I brainstorm with Jovanna one day and the next thing you know, we're in Berkeley sifting through salvaged wood and cabinet doors at Urban Ore (as suggested by Jovanna's mom). We came home with a few key pieces of wood. The vision is coming together. Don't hold me to this though. This project is a first for me, so could very easily end up being a scrap project if not executed correctly.
Pretty scenes outside Urban Ore, claw footed bathtubs as planters.
Then we went to a nearby nursery, Magic Gardens.
Highlights not featured here: Philz coffee and a Gregoire lunch!
yum, Gregoire!
ReplyDeletethere is something so invigorating about having a dream, taking action on it, and seeing it start to take shape in reality. makes you feel like you can accomplish anything!
cheering for your table project--don't give up on yourself too soon, or beat yourself up if it's not perfect. imperfect prototypes are reminders of where we've been so we can appreciate where we end up :)
I'm attempting to make my own coffee table. I bought some legs at Ikea from the "as is" section and then I'm going to get some wood to put on top. I'd like to use salvaged wood but don't have a clue where to get some in my area. Good luck with your project!
ReplyDeleteshut up!! We were in SF this weekend too! Can't wait to hear more. You know Jorge has been all carpenter man and built me all these boxes for planters and a low table for my bday-we could come and help if it's an excuse to visit you? A table like that is the next thing on my list too!
ReplyDeletep.s. Dom trip <3
I am so excited to see what you are making!!! can you make a salvage table for me? Haha! You must show pics as soon as possible!
